The Lutherans have occupied an historic corner of Lenexa, Kansas since 1923. When we met the pastor in the summer of 2018 we loved him immediately. His first comment to us was, “I don’t know why we own real estate.” They were facing $300,000 to $400,000 in upgrades and repairs. The bell tower leaked, the basement flooded when it rained, and they had a separate building on the property that barely served any purpose. Narthex worked with their board, met with the congregation to answer questions, and developed solutions for their problems. The congregation voted to partner with Narthex and sell their property to us in May 2019. Leaky bell tower fixed, basement flooding resolved, and an out building which is now completely functional. These are the fruits of our labors. Salem Lutheran remains in the building, hopefully for another hundred years, and now with significant cash available from the sale of their property to invest in ministry and expand their impact in the community.
